«Экомар» был основан в Измире в 1975 году и начинал свою деятельность с небольшого розничного магазина. Компания принадлежит семье предпринимателей Карадуман. За 20 лет магазины «Экомар» появились во многих районах провинции Измир.
Такая же участь ожидает продовольственную компанию «Айнес», которая входила в 500 лучших промышленных предприятий станы. Два года назад компания перешла в Государственный фонд страхования активов, но через некоторые время была возвращена владельцам. Отмечается, что «Айнес» не смогла сохранить долговые обязательства и подала заявку на реструктуризацию долга.
